DISCOVER CRUELTY-FREE AND ITS IMPORTANCE
In certain industries - especially cosmetics, hygiene, and cleaning products - the use of animal testing has become common. For this reason, the term Cruelty Free was coined, which is part of a movement to abolish these procedures as much as possible.
Humane Society International (HSI), an international organization that advocates for an end to human and animal cruelty, defines these tests as "procedures performed on live animals for research into basic biology and diseases, to assess the effectiveness of new medicines and to test the human health and/or environmental safety of consumer and industrial products." Such practices can inflict distress and cause physical and emotional suffering to the beings involved.
It is estimated that more than 115 million animals are used in laboratories annually. Of these, rats, monkeys, hamsters, pigs, rabbits, fish, cats, birds, dogs, and monkeys are typically used.
IN BRAZIL
The ban on animal testing and research in Brazil gained prominence after the Instituto Royal case in 2013, when about 178 dogs and 7 rabbits were rescued by activists and local residents from one of the institution's facilities, which was active at the time. The case generated a debate on the issue of animal testing.
The National Council for the Control of Animal Experimentation (Concea), of the Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation (MCTI), published, in March 2022, a resolution prohibiting the performance of tests on vertebrate animals in research, development, and control of cosmetic products. This represents an important step in promoting more ethical and compassionate practices in research.
SEALS

The organization People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) certifies vegan and cruelty-free companies and products, recognizing that they do not test on animals and do not use animal-derived ingredients.
In addition, there is the oldest and most widely recognized international seal in the market, Cruelty Free International. There is also the NGO Projeto Esperança Animal (PEA), which operates in Brazil, and the Australian industry seal, Choose Cruelty Free. These initiatives play a crucial role in promoting more ethical practices regarding animals.
