Do you have a skincare routine that's actually right for your skin type?
With so many skincare products on the market, have you been choosing the right ones for your skin type? After all, it doesn't make much sense to take care of your skin if you're not using the appropriate products. Estimated reading time: 2 minutes and 17 seconds.
So, what are the existing skin types?
In addition to skin types, there is also the skin condition, which varies according to age, sebaceous gland activity, and natural hydration levels.
The relationship between these two aspects lies in the gradual aging of the skin and exposure to internal and external factors. Among the main ones are stress, heredity, anxiety, climate, pollution, medications, and behavior.

There are four very distinct skin types, which we will show you below:
Normal
Normal skin has a healthy and velvety appearance because it produces oil in a balanced way. Thus, there is no excess, and it presents uniformity between shine and dryness.
Pores are small and barely visible, although in some areas like the forehead, chin, and nose, they may be oilier than other regions. In normal skin, blood circulates more easily, there are no blemishes, and its color is uniform according to the skin tone. For example, in lighter tones, it has a rosy appearance.
For care, it is important to use neutral soaps and oil-free moisturizing creams daily. In addition, sunscreen is an essential item that should be applied to all visible and exposed parts of the body.
Dry
Dry skin, despite having barely visible pores, has little luminosity, no oiliness, and a tendency to flake. The biggest problem with this skin type is its inability to retain water, hence the lack of sebum and dull appearance.
People with dry skin should avoid hot and prolonged baths, as these can worsen dryness. To keep it healthy, it needs water from deep layers of the body and perspiration.
If this process doesn't happen, it inevitably compromises natural hydration, resulting in dry, rough, and dull skin. For the care of this skin type, it is essential to use moisturizing creams or vegetable oils.
Oily
Oily skin is the opposite of dry skin, having an intense and thick shine due to an excessive and even necessary production of sebum. Just as it is necessary to stimulate oiliness in dry skin, in this type, it is necessary to control the excess.
Factors that produce oily skin include prolonged sun exposure, genetic inheritance, hormonal imbalance, medications, stress, and fatty foods.
Enlarged pores are more apparent and susceptible to blackheads, pimples, and blemishes. To care for it, as there is a high propensity for inflammation, it is ideal to use neutral lotions based on plant extracts that provide freshness and relief at the same time.
Combination
The most common skin type, which demands extra care, especially in choosing the right products for each area. Pores are usually enlarged in the "T-zone" (forehead, nose, and chin), where acne and breakouts appear.
In the cheek area and extremities, the skin is dry and sometimes dehydrated, hence the term combination.
As we mentioned in the previous two skin types, oily areas produce excess sebum, and dry areas lack this formation, which requires different care and products.
